Inside Digiesim’s End-to-End Build: A Travel eSIM Platform Designed Around the Traveler’s Journey
In an unfamiliar airport, without an eSIM you just get lost in a disconnected world. Digiesim set out to change that for Middle East travelers, giving travelers a way to arrive connected without hunting for a SIM vendor or paying roaming fees. Technext built the platform that made it possible.
Challenge: A Niche Market With No Tailored Digital Product
The global eSIM market was growing fast, but Middle East-focused travelers, Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, regional business travelers, and digital nomads had no dedicated platform built around their connectivity needs. Existing solutions were either too generic or too complex for non-technical users to navigate.
Digiesim approached Technext to design and develop a consumer eSIM web application from scratch.
The scope was significant:
- No existing codebase or design system to build on
- A product requiring tight coordination between frontend UX, backend logic, payment processing, and third-party eSIM provider APIs
- A user base ranging from first-time eSIM users to frequent travelers, each with different comfort levels with the technology
- A checkout and activation flow where any friction could kill conversion
The product had to earn trust at every step, from the first homepage impression to the moment a traveler’s eSIM activates abroad.
Solution: A Full-Stack Platform Built Screen by Screen, Flow by Flow
Technext designed and developed the complete Digiesim platform, covering marketing pages, authentication, plan selection, checkout, activation, account management, and transactional emails.
Key areas of focus included:
- A consistent visual identity across all 15+ screens, desktop and mobile
- An end-to-end user flow from destination browsing to post-purchase eSIM installation
- A checkout page that handled plan comparison, coupon application, payment, and order summary in a single scrolling layout
- Contextual logic, including a popup that detected existing installed eSIMs and offered to add a new plan rather than issue a new one
- A post-purchase page, data usage alert, and email templates designed to reduce traveler anxiety after payment
- An eSIM installation guide covering iPhone and Android, with three installation methods and a troubleshooting section
- A user dashboard showing active plan status, data usage, recent purchases, and repurchase options
Discovery sessions with the Digiesim team informed decisions around user flow sequencing, plan naming, and the structure of the onboarding experience.
Results: A Complete Product Ready for Launch and Retention
A full platform delivered from scratch
The Digiesim web application launched with 15 distinct screens covering every user state, from first visit to post-purchase account management.
A simplified onboarding experience
The three-step flow, select a plan, receive a QR code by email, connect on arrival, reduced the perceived complexity of eSIM technology for first-time users.
A retention-ready dashboard
The My eSIM Dashboard gave users visibility into active plans, usage, and past purchases, with a direct repurchase path that reduced the need for support contact.
An ecosystem beyond the transaction
The Perks by Digiesim rewards page, travel blog, and partner program gave the platform depth beyond plan sales, supporting long-term user engagement from launch.
Digiesim was designed as a complete traveler companion. From pre-trip planning (destinations, plan selection) through active travel (data alerts, dashboard) to the next trip (repurchase, perks, blog). Technext built the architecture that made this continuity possible.
