Bmboo Lighting, Building a Shopify Store for a Sustainable Home Decor Brand in the USA

Overview:

Bmboo Lighting is based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. They sell sustainable lighting and home decor, and their customer base spans both the US and Mexico. What sets them apart is not just what they sell but why. The brand has a clear point of view around natural materials and responsible sourcing, and their buyers respond to that.

When they approached Technext, they did not have a proper online store yet. Sales were happening, but without a dedicated Shopify presence, things were scattered. They needed somewhere to send people, and it had to look and feel like the brand, not a generic template someone threw together in an afternoon.

Shopify Development:

Technext handled the frontend development of the store on Shopify. The starting point was figuring out what kind of experience actually fits a brand like this. Sustainable lighting is a visual category. People want to see the product properly, understand what they are buying, and feel like the store itself reflects the same care that went into the products. That shaped every decision.

Theme customization was done to move away from anything that felt generic. The color choices, typography, and spacing were all adjusted to give the store a warmer, more grounded character. Nothing flashy. The brand does not need that.

Development Highlights:

  • Responsive layout: Most of their shoppers are on phones. The store was built with that in mind from day one, not retrofitted later.
  • Product pages: Each page was set up to give the product room to breathe. Good image support, clear layout, and a structure that does not make buyers dig for the information they need.
  • Page speed: Heavier images were compressed and the script load was kept tight. A slow store costs sales, especially on mobile.
  • Checkout: Shopify’s native checkout was kept consistent with the rest of the store visually, so nothing feels off once a customer gets to that stage.
